Charle Brugere Workshop Violin 1/2 1899

$ 1,250.00 Regular price $ 1,500.00

This violin is labelled "Fait dans l'atelier de Charles Brugere Paris 1899".

Charles Brugere, 1865-1930, an apprentice of Etienne Drouin, was a fine maker active in Paris and Mirecourt, the heart of French violin making.  Violin making in Mirecourt dates back to the 1600s and traditions were handed down through the ages.  As a younger man, Monsieur Brugere was employed as a maker at Blanchard, P. Bailly and Gand & Bernadel.  He set up on his own c.1890 and produced many exceptional instruments that are quite valuable and sought after by professionals.

Instruments produced in his workshop were crafted under his guidance and have a very desirable tone quality.  Amber brown varnish, interesting patina.  This 1/2 sized violin has a rich, very full tone and is sure to please your pocketbook and your child's teacher.  It is in excellent condition and has been set up and tonally adjusted by our expert luthiers to ensure optimal performance.
